Target Profit / Loss

$
Negative = the loss per head you're willing to buy into. The calculator solves the exact delivered price that hits this number — no manual goal-seeking.

In Weight Range

Sets the weight brackets on the card and in Breakeven Detail.

Breakeven Profile

The card and Breakeven Detail price off whatever is selected here. Do your research on the Closeout Analytics page, then save it as a profile to buy with.
Cost of Gain Build-Up
When on, this replaces the Cost of Gain field above — Dry Matter Conversion still comes from your closeouts (weight-window calibrated, same as gain and death loss), but the dollar cost per lb of gain is computed fresh from your current ration prices instead of a historical average. Formula verified against Cost_of_Gain_Estimater_Yearlings.xlsx — matches to the 4th decimal on your own example numbers.
Ration Costs
Edit ingredient prices as they move and both rations' $/ton (DM) cost update automatically — same math as your Ration Cost calculator: Cost/Ton (DM) = blended as-fed cost ÷ blended DM%.

Sale & Delivery

Freight & Commission
Saved per sale location — set once per barn.
Add a Sale Location
Remove
Only locations you added can be removed — the built-in towns stay.
My Location
Miles to every sale location are estimated from here — straight-line, adjusted for typical roads, so verify against a map before bidding.
Apply Rates to Other Sales
Pushes the current sale's freight rate and commission (see Freight & commission settings) onto other sales — separately, so changing one leaves each barn's other rate alone.

Out Wt, ADG (lb/day), Death %, and DM Conv come from the active Breakeven Profile — or from the live closeout research when no profile is selected — applied the same to every row. COG ($/lb) is per-row when "Build Cost of Gain from today's ration costs" is on: computed from DM Conv, that row's own days on feed, and current ration prices (hover a value for the math); otherwise it's the flat profile/blend number. Each row's Out Date picks its own basis period and live-cattle contract automatically (see Basis Settings) — a 950 lb calf sold sooner may price off a different contract than an 800 lb calf. Breakeven = fed-cattle price/cwt needed to cover cost of gain, interest and death loss at the solved purchase price. Delivered Price = the exact price/cwt (freight included) that produces your target profit. Ring Price = Delivered Price minus this sale's freight & commission — the number to bid at the ring. Basis shown here is the auto-matched calendar value — edit it in Basis Settings. Futures shown include any Futures Price Adjustment from the Market panel.

Market

Each weight bracket's own projected out date is matched automatically to its half-month basis period, then priced against that period's live-cattle contract.
Loads automatically, no key needed. During market hours (8:30am–1:05pm Central) ↻ Refresh pulls the current price about 10 minutes delayed; outside them you get the last session's close. Contracts marked est aren't quoted — type a real price in before bidding off one.
Added to (or subtracted from) every contract's futures price in the table above before pricing — nudge the whole board for the day's move without editing each contract.
Basis Settings

Standard basis and matching live-cattle contract for each half-month of the year. Each weight bracket looks up its own row here based on its calculated out date.
